Healthcare Improvement Scotland is the national improvement agency for health and social care in Scotland, and we are seeking to recruit an Improvement Advisor to provide support for Health and Social Care services to redesign and continually improve our work programmes. With an extensive range of improvement support programmes and collaborations with local, national and international networks, we aspire to be at the leading edge of both thinking and practice in quality.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and positive individual to work within the Medical & Safety Directorate for the Perinatal, Paediatric & Acute Care Portfolio. The Improvement Advisor will support scoping, design, and delivery of the Scottish Patient Safety Programme (SPSP) supporting Perinatal, Paediatric, and Acute Adult improvement programmes.

The SPSP Acute Adult programme supports improving outcomes and experiences for people in acute care. The SPSP Paediatric and Perinatal programme engages with teams involved in delivering maternity, neonatal, and paediatric care across NHS boards to support improved outcomes for women, babies, children and families within Scotland. The work will be innovative and complex and is focused on developing, testing, and spreading a range of approaches to drive safe, effective, and person-centred improvements. A key element of this role is engaging with a wide range of stakeholders to develop and deliver these complex programmes of work.

The successful candidate will combine excellent improvement, communication, and analytical skills with a high degree of self-awareness, experience in managing relationships in a collaborative environment and effective project and programme management techniques. The ability to build relationships and motivate people and organisations to drive significant change is a significant part of this role. Therefore, strong communication, interpersonal and team working skills are required.
