Import Specialist
NOTE: THIS IS AN ONSITE POSITION (MON-FRI)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Import Specialist is required oversee the administration of documents processes required to import merchandise and materials with freight forwarders, drayage companies, customs brokers, and trucking companies to ensure timely arrival and delivery of containers from China to our US warehouse and must display a strong understanding of logistics.

Essential Functions:
- overseeing the daily communications with Import Brokerage/Drayage companies to facilitate containers/trailers delivery in an efficient and timely manner
- and tracks containers on the vessel to make sure ocean freight holds and custom hold have all been removed; tracking that the trucking company has appointments.
- planning and organized to avoid any demurrage or detention charges at the port
- the Tracking and tracing container shipments via terminal portals ensuring that cargo is arriving on time; Tracking and tracing (port availability, delivery status, etc.)
- for planning and preparing the international paperwork while maintaining excellent relationships with multiple Logistic Providers, sales, and purchasing teams
- and ensure documentations are accurate; processed in time; Ensure smooth transactions for all overseas goods and maintain accuracy of all financial information.
- knowledge on all rules and regulations of import processes and ensure efficient transmission of all import goods and prepare and complete all purchase orders and ensure accuracy of all files and maintain records for same on account payable system and track all products.
- the follow up on Ocean shipments; Organize files both manually and electronically; Reviews and follow-up on purchase orders and verifies shipping is on schedule
- shipment status, issue arrival notice and obtain entry documents for customs entries. Communicate with customs brokers to confirm customs release status.
- freight release with carriers/co-load agents, confirm cargo availability.
- import files and accurate data input of import files in ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics Navision)
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Competencies:
- knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, preferably Microsoft NAV, ERP systems, a plus
- to work in fast paced environment
- verbal, and written communication skills
- customer service skills specifically with external clients
HOURLY RATE: $25.00 - $30.00 DOE
