Be an Illinois JusticeCorps Fellow. Illinois JusticeCorps places volunteers in courthouses to help people without lawyers navigate the civil justice system. Fellows work with courthouse staff to provide a variety of services to people who can’t afford an attorney, or simply need a better understanding of the court system and its procedures. JusticeCorps volunteers do not give legal advice, instead they empower people with the tools they need to represent themselves. Fellows also: Lead a team of volunteers; Create Americorps projects and events; Collect data for quarterly reports; Watch court, observe judges and attorneys; and, Build friendships with other service-minded people. Full-time Fellows (1700 hours) receive an $25,000.00 living allowance paid over 12 months. Half-time Fellows (900 hours) receive a $12,500.00 living allowance paid over 12 months. All members, upon successful completion of the term of service, are eligible for an educational award ranging from $6,895.00 to $1,459.26. Applications accepted until positions are filled.
