We are Hydro, Inc. and we have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HR Generalist in a desirable West Loop neighborhood in Chicago. This is an in-office position for local candidates only.


As a dynamic global, privately held company with corporate headquarters in Chicago and the largest independent aftermarket pump reengineering company in the world, Hydro provides engineering expertise, pump repair and support services to the industry since 1969. Our mission is to work hand-in-hand with our valued customers around the world to optimize the performance and reliability of their pumping systems by evaluating and understanding root causes of pump degradation or failure and by providing unbiased engineering analysis, quality workmanship, and responsive field service for improved plant operation.


ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


The Human Resources Generalist will have a minimum of 5 years' experience. The successful candidate will be a crucial HR partner in the organization. You will handle daily HR responsibilities for employees in the corporate office and provide support to field sites. This role requires a dedicated, hands on person who wants to grow in the organization and has strong experience in all functions of human resources, including employee relations, and who has worked in a generalist role in an industrial, multi-site company for more than 5 years. Being flexible with the ability to multi-task and take on project work is crucial to be successful in this role.


You will drive assigned HR projects, provide support for day to day HR related work and be responsible for the HR system. The successful candidate will be part of the corporate HR team reporting to the HR Director and will also support functional HR team members with implementing organizational changes, partnering effectively with managers in multiple locations, retention and recruiting, employee benefits, and working cross functionally to roll out projects. Projects may include HRIS implementation, training, performance management and other initiatives which are critical in delivering an exceptional employee experience.


Essential Job Responsibilities:


  • Possess thorough HR knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local employment laws, HR operating procedures and best practices.
  • Resolve employee relations issues at various levels, when needed.
  • Promote and drive employee retention initiatives.
  • Manage employee handbook with updated policies, state and local laws. Provide managers and employees with accurate information at all times.
  • Organize, drive and implement assigned projects, track progress and provide status reporting and ongoing communications with the team members and HR Director.
  • Responsible for the LMS, learning management system, identifying courses for each position during NEO. Deliver HR and other training as needed.
  • In conjunction with the HRIS team, work toward completing the implementation of the HRIS system and learn business processes that are needed to help with a successful implementation process across the company. This involves employee data and employee reporting.
  • Track and analyze trends and update progress in the HRIS System. Proactively utilize results to improve retention and enhance employee development.
  • Manage annual programs including open enrollment and the wellness program.
  • Be able to assist with hiring and recruitment.
  • Revise, implement and drive the New Hire Orientation program.
  • Learn the Hydro company culture and gain a general understanding of our business.
  • Collaborate with Hydro University and support training initiatives.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Handle all other HR and administrative duties as assigned.


Education and Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, with a SHRM certification desired.
  • 5 years HR Generalist experience in a multi-site industrial organization.
  • Strong knowledge of HR processes, policies and employment laws.
  • Flexibility, multi-tasking, excellent judgment, attention to detail and follow through are required.
  • Demonstrated HR experience influencing change to improve business outcome is desired.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office: Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Excellent level demonstrated experience with an HRIS and/or ERP system
  • Attention to detail with high quality deliverables.
  • Ability to work with a team with tact and diplomacy.
  • Maintain strong confidentiality.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Travel on occasion, as needed.
