Environmental System Group (ESG) has an amazing opportunity for a highly motivated, skilled Human Resources Business Partner in our beautiful Madison, NJ office!


What We are Looking For:

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is a key member of the Human Resources team, supporting many HR programs including performance management, employee engagement, employee relations, leave of absence, and onboarding. The HRBP will proactively build relationships with people managers and collaborate with managers on a plethora of employment related matters, while ensuring HR best practices and federal and multi-state compliance. This role will be a positive driver of company culture while promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout all programs and policies. This role has a unique and meaningful balance between thought leadership and hands-on execution of work product.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES


Business Partnership and HR Strategy

o Establish strong working relationships with people managers and business unit leaders by leveraging business acumen; serve as a key member of the business unit leadership teams

o Provide sound recommendations to managers while navigating a broad range of people challenges by leveraging HR best practices and expertise

o Partner with Director, HR to set and execute on human resources strategy and people programs in support of organizational goals

o Partner with Director, HR to support the smooth integration and onboarding for employees of acquired companies

o Support change management and corporate communications initiatives


• General Human Resources Support and Employee Experience

o Administer all onboarding related activities including background screening and drug testing, I-9s and E-Verify, and new hire paperwork

o Maintain a consistent onboarding experience for employees and facilitate new hire workflow and responsibilities matrix in partnership with Operations teams; Support new hire and hiring manager through 90-day onboarding program

o Administer leaves of absence and workers’ compensation claims

o Conduct feedback surveys, collecting key data related to employee onboarding, retention, and exits; Analyze feedback data and present trends and recommendations to Director, HR


Performance Management and Employee Relations

o Support performance management programs including annual review process, talent calibration, goal setting, and competency model utilization, and succession planning

o Encourage a culture of feedback between employees and managers at all levels

o Support and lead employee relations including investigations and respond to charges/legal letters with guidance from Director, HR

o Partner with people managers to draft and guide performance improvement plans (PIPs) as well as disciplinary action

o Act as a mediator and advocate in employee relations matters, working to resolve conflicts and maintain a positive and inclusive workplace culture


Culture, Employee Engagement, and Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI)

o Support employee engagement initiatives including engagement surveys and being a champion of the company culture; Collaborate with office management staff with regards to in-office events

o Support initiatives to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace culture, championing equity through policies, programs, and training that attract, retain, and support a diverse workforce while ensuring fairness and equality in all HR practices


• Learning & Development (L&D)

o Maintain learning management system (LMS) including assigning and tracking compliance training completion

o Support the creation of, as well as facilitate, employee and manager training programs to support employees in their ongoing development, including new hire orientation and lunch and learns


• Compliance and Reporting

o Utilize HR data and compile reports

o Maintain compliance with federal and multi-state employment laws through workforce policies and compliance initiatives including Affirmative Action Plan, EEO-1, I-9, etc., while ensuring policies and programs enhance operational efficiency and are fair and equitable

• Additional responsibilities, as assigned

• Highly responsive to colleagues and clients via appropriate communication channels including email, meetings, calls, and in person

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field; HR certification, preferred

• Minimum of 5+ years of progressive human resources experience including performance management, employee relations, multi-state and federal employment law compliance, DEI, and training

• Up-to-date knowledge of employment practices, federal and multi-state employment laws, and general knowledge of full spectrum human resources best practices

• Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills, including Excel and PowerPoint, or equivalent

• Strong understanding of professional services and environmental consulting industry and relevant HR best practices

• Experience with integration and implementation of HR processes post-acquisition, preferred
