AKA NYC is seeking an HR Manager to join the Operations team to help support the fast-paced growth of AKA. Key responsibilities include full cycle recruitment, onboarding, training and development, and general support of HR processes. We are looking for a dynamic individual with 3-5 years of experience in recruitment and general HR administration and who demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Reporting to the Head of Talent and Culture, the HR Manager is a full-time exempt position that is based in New York City.

What You’ll Do

Talent Acquisition

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates.Proactively source candidates through social media, networking, employee referrals, and other channels.
  • Format and proofread job descriptions, ensuring consistency.
  • Screen resumes and conduct pre-screening interviews.
  • Schedule interviews for the Hiring Manager (Zoom and/or in-person).
  • Engage candidates in a friendly manner with timely updates.
  • Project manage the recruitment process; follow up with hiring managers regularly to collect feedback and keep the process moving forward.
  • Transition the candidate to employee: complete the background check process and prepare offer letters.

Onboarding

  • Onboard new employees, including coordinating their first day, onboarding new hires in all HR systems, processing all new hire paperwork, coordinating the new hire buddy system, and ensuring a smooth onboarding experience.
  • Coordinate with other departments to prepare workspaces, equipment, etc.
  • Conduct orientation sessions to introduce new team members to introduce company policies, systems, and culture.
  • Serve as the point of contact for new employees to address any concerns or questions.
  • Collect feedback from new hires to continually improve the onboarding experience.

Training & Development

  • Identify training needs and develop comprehensive training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with department heads to create individualized training/development plans for employees.
  • Organize and facilitate training sessions and workshops.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and adjust programs as needed.
  • Ensure completion of all required trainings for HR.
  • Assist with creating and maintaining a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and anti-racist workplace and learning environment.

General HR Support

  • Assist and support the day-to-day functions of HR.
  • Accurately maintain employee records in HR systems as required including HRIS, Payroll, the census, and org chart.
  • Draft correspondence, prepare meeting agendas, take meeting minutes.
  • Help plan culture events for the staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Who We’re Looking For

  • 3 - 5 years of recruitment and administration experience or related role (ideally servicing the advertising or marketing industry).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate complex problems and solutions in a clear and simple manner to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to build rapport with team members at all levels in the organization.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of work, ensuring accuracy and precision in tasks and deliverables.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, with advanced skills in formulas.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, with skills in formatting and layout.
  • Proficiency in analyzing recruitment metrics and KPIs to assess the effectiveness of recruitment strategies and make data-driven decisions for process improvement.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and problem-solve effectively, particularly in resolving recruitment challenges or optimizing HR processes.
  • Proactively takes initiative and ownership of projects and sees them through to completion.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a strong focus on anti-racism principles.
  • The ability to handle confidential information with exceptional judgment, high integrity, and discretion.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and manage multiple assignments.
  • Basic HTML knowledge a plus.
