The Human Resources Generalist role encompasses a range of HR support functions such as recruitment, administration, benefits, payroll, compliance, culture, and professional development. Key requirements for this role include strong interpersonal and organizational skills, superior customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic remote work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide backup support to the Office Manager as needed.
  • Perform additional tasks and duties as assigned by management.
  • Handle new employee onboarding (background checks, new hire paperwork, E-Verify, HR/Benefits orientation, new employee orientation schedules, equipment requests, business cards, etc.) and offboarding processes (exit interviews, equipment returns).
  • Conduct new hire orientations for all employees.
  • Process employment verifications.
  • Develop Organization charts, as required.
  • Support and administer HR programs (staff celebrations, recognition programs, professional development, MSG committee, etc.)
  • Maintain personnel files and ensure compliance with data protection requirements.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Reconcile employee benefits and recruitment invoices.
  • Support the payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate personnel changes (onboarding, offboarding, supervisor, etc.) while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Verify timekeeping records, benefit deductions, and resolve discrepancies to ensure accuracy of payroll.
  • Respond to employee inquiries on a timely basis regarding HR-related matters.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Help to curate and drive a world-class culture.


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of Human Resources experience. Government contracting experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or relevant experience.
  • Certification in HR (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated expertise in various HR capacities, particularly in recruitment, administration, benefits, payroll, and compliance.
  • Familiarity with affirmative action plans and reporting to ensure compliance.
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Experience using HRIS Systems, preferably Paylocity.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Candidates for this position must be based in the DC, MD, or VA area.
  • Availability to work in the office on an occasional basis.
  • Flexibility to handle various responsibilities as they arise.
