Housekeeping Manager

The Housekeeping Team supports the physical maintenance and upkeep of our beautiful performing arts facilities while assisting in setting and resetting furniture and layouts for events. This team works to ensure timely and efficient operation of all janitorial duties and maintain a clean, attractive, and inviting atmosphere for our patrons and guests.

The Housekeeping Manager works diligently to ensure the team is organized and prepared for their duties. Their primary focus is providing administrative and hands-on support, maintaining the Long Center’s high standards while ensuring appropriate staffing and inventory levels, and serving as an escalation point when issues arise.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Obtains timely and necessary information for event planning and execution using Long Center calendaring and scheduling systems in collaboration with a cross-functional team
  • Teaches, trains, supervises, and performs general cleaning using techniques including waxing, polishing, cleaning carpet and upholstered furniture, draperies, and using other tools as necessary
  • Works with building operations in set ups and tear downs, restoring theatre and event spaces to normal operating condition after events and performances.
  • Maintains cleanliness of public event spaces, private dressing rooms, backstage production areas, administrative offices, and exterior spaces.
  • Manages scheduling, attendance, performance, quality of work, and provides shift coverage when needed.
  • Collaborates closely with members of the operations team and external vendors to assess supplies, triage issues, and ensure adequate staffing.
  • Manages labor budget and productivity while supporting the housekeeping team to deliver on service and timeliness standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities)

  • 5 years of janitorial or housekeeping experience with at least 1 year of management experience in this field
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, both written and verbal.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Suite and ability to learn additional computer-based applications.
  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to work flexible full-time hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Basic aptitude and a willingness to learn theatrical and housekeeping best-practices, working with trained and certified professionals in the industry
  • Ability to utilize modern two-way communications devices to work across teams during events

  • Speak and hear; reach for, hold, and use tools and controls; stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate. When loud events/work environments are anticipated, ear protection will be provided

the salary range for this role is 50K-60K. this role is expected to start closer to the midpoint of 55K.
