Position Overview:

A Hotel Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining the physical condition of the hotel, ensuring that it meets the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and functionality. This role involves performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting issues, and working with other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Maintenance:
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry repairs.
    • Address and resolve maintenance issues reported by guests or staff promptly and efficiently.
    • Inspect and maintain the overall condition of the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
  • Preventive Maintenance:
    • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of all hotel equipment and systems to ensure proper functioning and prevent breakdowns.
    • Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and replacements.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and hotel policies.
    • Conduct safety checks and report any potential hazards or safety concerns to the management.
    • Participate in safety training and drills as required.
  • Guest Services:
    • Respond to guest requests and complaints regarding maintenance issues in a timely and professional manner.
    • Provide excellent customer service to enhance the overall guest experience.
    • Collaborate with housekeeping and front desk staff to resolve maintenance-related guest concerns.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other maintenance staff and hotel departments to coordinate and complete maintenance tasks.
    • Assist in training new maintenance staff as needed.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Inventory and Supplies:
    • Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
    • Order and replenish supplies as necessary, ensuring that stock levels are adequate for ongoing maintenance needs.
  • Emergency Response:
    • Be available for emergency maintenance calls and respond promptly to urgent maintenance issues.
    • Assist in evacuations and emergency procedures when required.
Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training is a plus.
  • Proven experience in maintenance, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general maintenance practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair maintenance issues efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and perform tasks that require manual dexterity.

Working Conditions:

  • This position may require working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
