Position Summary

Employees perform skilled landscaping and manual work necessary to maintain community grounds. Workers typically perform a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, debris removal, etc.

Essential Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Perform the designated work in areas specified, such as trimming plants, weeding, raking, debris removal, or any other landscape work required.
  • Perform work assigned by the Landscaping Supervisor/Director of Golf Course Maintenance in designated areas.
  • Mows grass, feeds and trims shrubs, tends flower beds and regularly inspects assigned work areas to maintain proper standards.
  • Operate gasoline edgers, weedeaters, and hedgers in assigned areas.
  • Operate blowers in assigned areas.
  • Operate mower machines to mow grass.
  • Operate gasoline buggies in assigned areas, pick up trimmings and/or debris, and load and unload in assigned areas.
  • Utilizes various gasoline-powered landscaping equipment along sidewalks, roadways, driveways, and other assigned areas.
  • Haul mulch from designated and assigned areas.
  • Rake/Pull pine needles, grass, cuttings, scuffle weeds, etc.
  • Picking up trimmings and/or debris.
  • Operates lawn and grounds equipment, including power mowers, bucket loaders, and other equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains community walks and lots.
  • Plans, plants, and maintains exterior and interior landscaping per the landscaping plan.
  • Removes trash, debris, and junk from the grounds.
  • Enforces safety regulations at the work site.
  • Adjusts, cleans, and performs minor mechanical work on ground equipment.
  • May apply pesticides.
  • Perform any other duties/tasks that are required, assigned, and/or directed by management.

Knowledge And Skill Requirements

The requirements below represent knowledge, skill, and /or ability.

  • Ability to interact with all employees and all jobs in landscape maintenance - the mower operation, irrigation, tree operation, fertilizer operation, weed-eater operations, etc.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, pull, and push up to 50 pounds.
  • Heavy physical exertion required.
  • Ability to walk approximately 8-9 hours/day.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate gasoline.

Education & Work Experience Requirements

  • Previous Landscape/Laborer experience preferred

  • Frequent balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, grasping, crouching, carrying, pulling, pushing, twisting above the waist, bending at the waist, repetitive hand and arm motion.
  • Requires walking primarily on varied surface levels for periodic periods and/or continuous periods throughout the day.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid outside weather conditions.
  • Reaching with hands and arms above shoulder height, below the waist, or lifting as required throughout the workday.
  • Proper lifting techniques and personal protective equipment are required.
  • Includes lifting, carrying, pulling, and pushing up to 50 pounds.
  • Heavy physical exertion.
  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Hard hat, safety glasses, heavy-duty work shoe, earplugs, gloves, and back brace, as needed.

Compensation

Salary is commensurate with experience.
