Job Description
A skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic undertakes tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of heavy trucks, earth-moving equipment, and related construction machinery, including road graders, gasoline and diesel-powered tractors, dump trucks, and dozers.
Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of heavy equipment.
Address any breakdowns in heavy equipment promptly.
Follow instructions provided by the Maintenance supervisor.
Perform repairs and adjustments on hydraulic pumps, safety valves, and dump trucks.
Inspect, repair, and adjust diesel power units, hydraulic systems, injection valves and systems, mold boards, and scarifiers on road graders.
Inspect, adjust, and repair gasoline and diesel tractors, as well as hydraulic systems.
Possess welding knowledge and field experience.
Report unsafe conditions, accidents, or injuries promptly to facilitate timely correction or reporting.
Work safely without posing a direct threat to oneself or others.
Monitor objects to ensure compliance with prescribed operating or safety standards.
Install, replace, or adjust filters, belts, or similar objects to maintain equipment.
Perform incidental welding operations on equipment as required.
Attend special training and familiarization workshops related to innovations in heavy equipment.
Skills:
Possess extensive knowledge of the operation and maintenance requirements of heavy-duty construction equipment.
Demonstrate proficiency in the use of hand and power tools employed across all phases of heavy equipment mechanical maintenance and repair work.
Hold a minimum of five years of experience as a skilled mechanic, with some exposure to the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty construction equipment.
Exhibit the capability to diagnose defects in heavy-duty equipment.
Have the ability to comprehend and execute oral and written instructions in the English language.
