Hexcel is currently seeking a Health and Safety Manager for our Decatur, AL location.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

• Work collaboratively with the site Senior Leadership Team, Corporate EHS, and other appropriate functional and operational leaders to improve EHS management systems and drive a strong EHS culture in pursuit of world-class EHS performance.
• Develop, implement, and manage EHS programs, initiatives, and culture to maintain compliance, and drive performance to meet Hexcel expectations. Establish, maintain, and manage a safe work environment by creating a culture built around active caring and values-based culture, while enforcing policies and regulations.
• Lead and develop a team of high performing EHS professionals. Serve as the senior functional EHS stakeholder on the site leadership team by advising and influencing operational leaders to ensure the safety and health of employees and compliance with operating permits.
• Manage and oversee the interactions with government agencies, professional EH&S groups, community advisory panels, and corporate EHS.
• Advise and actively participate in risk and hazard evaluations for EHS reviews of existing processes, equipment, and all new capital investments. Oversee annual audits and management review of the EHS Management System.
• Provide timely resolutions of safety risks by working with site leadership to define the root cause, establish action plans and priorities, and providing technical assistance.
• Promote safety consciousness among workers by providing informative data, reinforcing EHS as a value, conducting and supporting EHS meetings, providing timely feedback on safety suggestions, and visibly supporting site leadership and operations to effectively lead the site EHS program and systems.
• Work with site Environmental Professionals to ensure compliance with the environmental management system including, the hazardous waste program (small quantity generator), air pollution control programs (synthetic minor air permit), direct and indirect discharge permits, facility stormwater pollution prevention plan, facility risk management plan, emergency planning and community right to know, chemical inventories, spill control plan, and wastewater discharge program.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental or related technical field, with a CSP or CIH preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in manufacturing EHS roles, with 3+ years of managerial experience. Chemical manufacturing experience, preferred.
• Ability to effectively influence and lead site leadership, Production, Operations, Maintenance, and other site management to drive EHS performance and results.
• Responsible for supporting company interface with regulatory authorities for regulatory visits, requests, permit submissions, and compliance responses.
• Strong understanding of occupational safety and health, with experience in Process Safety Management (PSM). Knowledge of environmental compliance preferred.
• EHS regulatory knowledge of applicable OSHA, and PSM regulations. Title V and RCRA knowledge and experience a plus. Experience managing ISO 14001 and 45001 certifications preferred.
• Ability to excel in a cross-functional matrix organization.
• Experience in root cause/corrective action methodologies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
