Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Boys Tennis Coach to join our school district's athletic & activities department. The Varsity Head Boys Tennis Coach will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive program for students, fostering skill development, promoting teamwork, and instilling a love for the sport. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing the overall athletic experience for our students and promoting a positive and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Mentorship:
    • Actively seek opportunities for student leadership development within the team.
    • Foster a sense of community and unity within the sports programs.
    • Inspire disciplined decision-making among student-athletes.
  • Intentional Culture Creator:
    • Instill values of accountability, teamwork, and respect within the team culture.
    • Teach students how to take pride in their achievements and be competitive while maintaining respect for teammates, opponents, and the sport.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes teamwork, and respect.
    • Cultivate an environment that promotes personal growth, integrity, and good sportsmanship.
  • Relationship Building:
    • Connect and build positive relationships with student-athletes, fostering trust and open communication.
    • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and school staff to support the overall well-being of student-athletes.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with all stakeholders in the program.
  • Training & Development:
    • Plan, organize, and conduct practices and training sessions for students at various skill levels.
    • Develop and implement age-appropriate training programs that focus on skill progression and safety.
    • Collaborate with other coaches and staff to coordinate practice schedules, competitions, and events.
    • Ensure compliance with safety guidelines and protocols during practices and events.
    • Monitor and maintain equipment, reporting any issues for prompt resolution.
  • Evaluate, Collaborate & Active Learner:
    • Evaluate the skill levels of individual athletes and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
    • Collaborate with other coaches and staff to coordinate practice schedules, competitions, and events.
    • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team activities and expectations.
    • Attend and actively participate in meetings, workshops, and training sessions as required.
Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Boys Tennis Coach or a strong background in athletic instruction.
  • Knowledge of tennis rules, techniques, and safety practices.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire athletes to achieve their full potential.
  • Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED (or willingness to obtain).
  • Understanding of the academic and athletic balance for student-athletes.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes.

Education And Certification

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Current Teaching license, or CNLT or willing to obtain CNLT certification
  • Sport-specific coaching certification (preferred)
