Head Track & Field/Cross Country CoachThe Head Track and Field Coach oversees all aspects of the university's track and field program, both on and off the field. This role involves mentoring student-athletes, providing academic guidance, and fostering personal development. The coach is responsible for recruitment, budget management, scheduling, and ensuring compliance with NAIA regulations. Additionally, they create a supportive and safe environment conducive to academic, athletic and personal growth. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruit student-athletes to fulfill roster and recruitment objectives.
  • Manage and monitor the allocated budget in accordance with university guidelines.
  • Schedule inter-collegiate games/meets within NAIA, conference, and college policies.
  • Ensure adherence to NAIA policies and regulations, effectively communicating them to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate pre-game and game arrangements, including equipment, travel, facilities, and personnel.
  • Develop and implement practice schedules within university policies.
  • Instruct, advise, and coach the team during meets and practices, promoting respect and upholding the university's values.
  • Serve as a Representative to promote the Track & Field/Cross Country programs as well as the Briar Cliff University Athletic Department.
  • Assist with fundraising and general sports promotion efforts.
  • Participate in university committees as assigned.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in collegiate coaching.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Extensive experience in Track & Field/Cross Country
  • Knowledge of and adherence to NAIA policies and regulations.
  • Demonstrated success as a recruiter, preferably within a 300-mile radius of BCU.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Directly supervise Assistant Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches, carrying out responsibilities per organizational policies and laws. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, walk, stand, and lift objects weighing up to 10-25 pounds.
