JOB PURPOSE: The Head Start/Early Head Start Assistant Director will assist the Head Start/Early Head Start Director with the oversight of the implementation of comprehensive Head Start/Early Head Start services, including administration, operations, health, family support services, nutrition, mental health services, education and other areas as appropriate.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Possesses knowledge and expertise which results in continuous improvement of efficient and effective comprehensive services
Possesses and applies knowledge of current Head Start Performance Standards, Office of Head Start updates, program policies and procedures, and applicable state, federal, and local laws and regulations.
Coordinates, plans, and develops projects and activities designed to improve and enhance program quality
Collects, analyzes, organizes, and reports accurate information to the appropriate staff or entity
Ensures the program operates in a legal, ethical manner, and in accordance with the program and agency mission and all applicable laws and regulations in the realm of facilities and transportation
Provides administrative oversight and coordination of Program activities including the planning, coordination, development, and implementation of the program’s service delivery
Ensures staff relationships which are conducive to a positive and productive work environment.
Staff acquires appropriate skills and knowledge to implement assigned responsibilities and assure efficient and compliant program delivery
Other duties as assigned
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Works well with individuals of all cultures and socio-economic backgrounds
Strong leadership skills
Strong communication skills, both written and oral
Reliable transportation required
Background check/drug screen
Ability to meet physical demands; lifting/manipulating/moving objects no more than 60lbs, ability to lift objects from the floor to 18’ above the shoulder, vision sufficiently correctable to permit full performance of duties, ability to drive or provide transportation in a specific service area, wide range of mobility, and physically able to perform with degree of dexterity for clerical functions
SCHEDULE:
8-hour shift, Monday-Friday
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration, Early Childhood Education, Social Work, or a related field required
Master’s Degree preferred
