Head of Specialty Insurance (BRVN-01)

At Braven, we run regular Innovation Programs that bring together sector analysts, experts, and advisors to surface new technological and commercial solutions to meaningful problems. Our latest Innovation Program is converting to a new stealth company launch, “BRVN-01,” Inprobable.com, a first-of-its-kind AI platform to manage insurable commercial enterprise business risk.
We seek an experienced and entrepreneurial early stage team who will serve as Head of Specialty Insurance (remote - anywhere in US). They will be responsible for using their experience and insights to shape our specialty line product strategy from concept to customer as well as building strategic partnerships and alliances with brokers and other relevant players in the industry. This role is initially an individual contributor and expected to be extremely hands-on, using a lean approach consistent with a seed round startup.

Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
- Act as the Product SME for Specialty lines to help design, implement and lead cross-functional strategies
- Identify emerging trends to support both the short and long-term strategy for Inprobable, backed by market research, competitive analysis, and customer feedback analysis
- Sourcing and negotiating specified policy language & pricing as well as working cross-functionally to develop compliant and creative solutions for claims management
- Convert both existing and new relationships with brokers and enterprises into partnerships and key alliances
- Provide inputs for product roadmap, enhancements and updates by conducting user research, gathering feedback, and iterating on features to champion a user-first approach
- Actively seek opportunity to act as an evangelist and ambassador within the broader insurance industry
- Proven track record with at least 10 years of commercial enterprise specialty insurance experience. This should manifest into a network of existing and ongoing broker relationships as well as a current knowledge of key drivers and incentives
- At least 5 years experience underwriting for commercial enterprise brokerage in specialty insurance lines including P&C, Cyber, Tech, BOP, Prop and/or Professional
- Passionate about the insurance industry with deep understanding of compliance, policy creation, pricing and cross-selling
- Relevant certifications i.e. CPCU, IABA, ARM, etc
- The ability to adapt swiftly to new challenges, acquire knowledge rapidly, integrate seamlessly into new settings, and exceed expectations. We value innovators who can make a significant impact.
- A solid track record of high performance, marked by achievements realized through comprehensive information gathering, incisive analysis, hypothesis formulation, rigorous testing, and compelling communication of recommendations
- Base salary between $155,000 - $175,000 (as company grows, this compensation will grow)
- Founder-level Seed-stage equity with potentially meaningful upside as well as eligible for additional options as the company grows
