A global leader and multinational commodity trading and mining company is seeking an experienced individual to join their company as Head of Risk - US. This position requires the individual to lead the market risk team, which involves the ownership of the limits and risk appetite framework, ensuring the daily production of Var and other related metrics and working closely with the senior leadership of the group to identify areas of concern. 10+ years of experience in market risk required. Key Responsibilities
Full ownership and oversight of the North America Product Risk team (daily production of P& L and exposures, valuation of physical transactions, some commercial responsibilities) and partial oversight of the local Market Risk team (Risk Appetite setting, limits+stress+VaR ownership)
Lead a team of 15+ individuals across the US, Canada and Mexico – including recruitment where necessary and training of new individuals.
Set a vision and a strategy for the NA risk team, encompassing risk analysis and practices, systems, people and new business
Work closely with the local head of trading and senior risk leadership to identify and raise risk concentration, illiquid risks and other areas of concerns
Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements
10-20 years of experience in Product Risk/Control, Market Risk or similar roles
Commodity experience, preferably oil, gas, power or LNG, required
Team management experience necessary with the ability to develop and mentor junior members of the team, include employees in other offices
Good commercial acumen as the individual will have to interact closely with the group senior leadership
