Reports To: Head of Commercial Management

Key Responsibilities

Real Estate:

  • Develop a comprehensive North American Real Estate (RE) strategy that supports Beazley’s business and growth ambitions and aligns with Beazley’s approach to ESG.
  • Develop and manage RE budgets, forecasts and financial models for 15 North American offices spanning approximately 113,00 sq ft .
  • Oversee all leases including lease expirations, negotiations of renewals and new leases; ensure alignment with strategic objectives and cost efficiencies.
  • Manage the construction, refurbishments, moves and restacking as required of offices in the North American RE portfolio to ensure that they are delivered on time and on budget
  • Ensure all offices are complaint with all local laws and regulations
  • Foster and manage productive and collaborative relationships externally with brokers, landlords, vendors and related parties and internally with Heads of Office and Executive members to ensure a high level of service and alignment on agreed objectives.
  • Conduct market analysis and research including emerging trends in office occupancy, design and usage, and opportunities and risks in markets where we have offices. Gather and utilize relevant data to inform decision making processes.

Facilities Management

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive facilities management strategy for Beazley’s North American offices. This includes but is not limited to optimizing space utilization, enhancing workplace experience, management of the lunch program and the development of applicable policies.
  • Work with the ESG team to ensure all North American offices are managed so as to align with Beazley’s approach to ESG. This includes but is not limited to identifying and implementing appropriate sustainability initiatives across all locations such as energy efficiency and waste reduction programs.
  • Collaborate with the Head of UK & Rest of the World (RoW) Facilities to establish consistent standards for the management of all global Beazley offices.
  • Manage standard operating procedures and processes. Ensure offices have comprehensive emergency response plans and written protocols for evacuations, fire safety, medical emergencies, natural disasters, active shooters, terrorism and crime.
  • Review and manage all applicable polices affecting Beazley’s offices such as Health and Safety, Security and Active Shooter while ensuring consistency with Beazley’s UK and RoW offices.
  • Oversee all day to day operations of facilities and ensure that they meet the highest standards of security, cleanliness, safety and functionality.
  • Respond to and action requests and feedback from North American offices, ensuring an excellent level of customer service.
  • Work with Beazley’s Procurement team, manage all external vendors, contractors and service providers to ensure quality service delivery within budgetary constraints. Negotiate contracts, monitor performance and address all issues and concerns in a timely manner.

Team Leadership And Management

  • Responsible for the day to day management of the North American Facilities team reviewing and assessing the resources and skills needed for the team to be successful

  • Ensure through recruitment, retention, development and performance management that all team members have the knowledge and the skills necessary to perform effectively in their given roles and responsibilities.

General

  • Work with the Head of Commercial Management to prepare and develop presentations and papers for Beazley’s Boards and Executive Committee.
  • Prepare written communications to employees as and when required.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience with financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting
  • In depth knowledge of North American real estate markets, trends and best practices including office utilization while working in a hybrid environment.
  • Experience managing the fit out or new offices as well as renovating existing offices.
  • Experience in restacking offices and moves/relocation of existing offices
  • Experience managing construction and related trades to ensure they deliver on time and within budget.
  • Experience of designing offices and/or commercial spaces to create unique, innovative and exciting places for people to do their best work.
  • Experience with facility management software systems
  • Knowledge of US and Canadian regulatory requirements and best practices including, OSHA, EPA, and LEED
  • Good understanding of leases and lease provisions to ensure best outcomes are reached in all lease negotiations
  • Experience of managing and leading teams
  • Experience of preparing presentations and papers
  • Proficiency in Power Point, Excel, and other technology needed to support the Head of Commercial Management and the Facilities Team

Salary for this role will be tailored to the successful individual’s location and experience. The expected compensation range for this position is $170,000 - $200,000 per year plus discretionary annual bonus. You will be able to discuss your salary expectations should you be contacted about this role.
