About the Head of North America Role

With around 50% of our total revenue generated from U.S. headquartered businesses, an exciting and rare opportunity now exists for a Head of North America to support BRODIE’s founders to build the U.S. based BRODIE operation from the ground up.

As a deeply experienced and entrepreneurial Sustainability Consultant, you will have strong leadership qualities, excellent communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to simultaneously deliver powerful work, build and lead a strong and passionate team, and develop networks and win new business. You will report to one of the two Founding Directors and be fully supported by both them and the established and talented BRODIE team – all based in the UK.

BRODIE has also recently established a U.S. Advisory Council. This a small body of experienced business leaders from a diverse range of U.S. corporations, which convenes twice annually.

What You Will Be Doing

You will be securing and leading a range of Strategy, Engagement, Communications, and Operational Projects for U.S.-based clients. Initially, delivery will be supported by the UK team, although you will also be responsible for building and shaping your own, U.S.-based, team in due course. Key responsibilities will include:

1. Client Delivery (50%)

  • Development and oversight of large programs of work with well-known international brands, providing high quality strategic counsel and advice based on years of experience and solid judgement.
  • Preparation of presentations, research materials, and written reports.
  • End-to-end management of all client work from pitching to delivery including budgets, project and resourcing plans.
  • Management of several mid-sized projects at any one time, which may include strategy development, materiality assessments, training and engagement programs, sustainability reporting, data analysis and disclosures.
  • Management of analysts on projects and collaboration to establish priorities.
  • Provision of meaningful and thoughtful feedback to colleagues on projects, direct reports and senior colleagues.

2. Business Development (25%)

  • Monitoring of regulatory and industry developments to identify and explore new areas of service delivery.
  • Active contributions to BRODIE thought leadership, events and marketing initiatives in the U.S.
  • Establishment and growth of a professional network of clients and partners, with support and inspiration from the BRODIE U.S. Advisory Council as well as the UK team.
  • Collaboration with co-founders to design and implement business plans and procedures.
  • Leadership of the development of project proposals and pitches (with UK-based support).
  • Evaluation of business performance and setting of goals for performance and growth in partnership with co-founders, finance and operations colleagues.

3. People and Organizational Management (15%)

  • Organizational design and implementation of a talented and agile BRODIE U.S. team of up to five members, including recruitment and onboarding.
  • Line management and leadership of the new team, including all aspects of performance and development and ensuring a great place to work with opportunities for progression.
  • Sourcing of exceptional freelancers as required (with the support of existing networks).
  • Selection of, and collaboration with, a suitable local HR advisory partner, as needed for legal matters.
  • Leadership in adherence to BRODIE values, policies, processes and systems.
  • Attendance at BRODIE team meetings and training sessions.

4. Internal Knowledge Management and Continuous Learning (10%)

  • Sharing of research and insights with the wider team.
  • Preparation of presentations, research materials, and written reports.
  • Contributing to BRODIE thought leadership.
