Position Overview:

Are you a strategic legal leader with a passion for innovation and sustainability? We’re looking for a dynamic Head of Legal to steer our legal ship. In this role, you’ll be the go-to expert for all legal matters, from employment law to vendor agreements, customer relations, equity management, and contract negotiations. You’ll work closely with our external legal counsel and internal teams to ensure we’re not just compliant, but also following best practices in the industry.


What You’ll Do:


Customer Relations:

  • Be the legal champion for our customers, ensuring our agreements have minimized risk for the Company.


Vendor Agreements:

  • Negotiate, draft, and review contracts with vendors and suppliers, ensuring solid partnerships generating long-term value for the Company.
  • Manage disputes and enforce contractual obligations with confidence.


Equity Management:

  • Guide our equity and stock option programs, ensuring they comply with securities laws and regulations.
  • Advise on employee incentive programs to keep our team motivated and aligned.


Contract Management:

  • Craft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts, from NDAs to partnership agreements.
  • Keep our contract management system organized and efficient.


Legal Counsel:

  • Serve as our primary liaison with external legal counsel on complex legal matters and litigation.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to senior management and other departments, becoming a trusted advisor.


Employment Law:

  • Shape and safeguard our workplace culture by managing employment-related legal issues, from hiring to terminations.
  • Develop and implement fair and compliant HR policies and procedures.


What You Bring:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the state bar association.
  • At least 5 years of legal experience either with the Law Firm or in-house
  • Deep expertise in employment law, contract negotiation, and corporate governance.
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication abilities.
  • A proactive, independent, and collaborative work style.
  • Strategic thinking with a strong business acumen and problem-solving skills.


Bonus Points For:

  • Experience with equity management and securities law.
  • Previous in-house counsel experience at a startup.
  • Familiarity with CA employment laws
