Requirements

The Head Girls Flag Football Coach is responsible for staffing at all aspects of the Girls Flag Football Program, scheduling opponents (in conjunction with the Athletic Director), and coaching team members. The Head Girls Flag Football Coach is required to abide by the IHSA rules and regulations as well as the rules and regulations set by the Athletic Administration and Board of Trustees. Job Requirements / Essential Functions:

  • The Head Girls Flag Football Coach will help with the execution of the girls’ flag football program and initiatives that align diversity, equity and inclusion with the school’s Catholic identity, mission, Ignatian Spirituality, and the school’s commitments to celebrate, educate and advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion. A successful candidate for the position should be able to collaborate, partner and manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions, to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
  • Use a variety of instructional techniques to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in flag football.
  • Coordinate the development and promotion of the Loyola Academy Flag Football Program.
  • Hold organizational meetings for team prospects and encourage potential athletes to participate in the flag football program.
  • Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student athletes.
  • Ensure all flag football coaches work together toward a common goal within the volleyball program and provide unity within the youth community programs.
  • Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students’ athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis.
  • Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide both individual and team development.
  • Assess players’ skills and assign team positions.
  • Determine game strategy based on the team’s capabilities.
  • Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
  • Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property.
  • Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation at all times.
  • Take all necessary precautions to protect student-athletes, equipment, and facilities, including protecting students from hazing/bullying.
  • Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.
  • Represent Loyola Academy in admissions events including open house, sports nights, grade school flag football events and meeting with prospective students.
  • Assist the Athletic Director with the scheduling of games and coordinate arrangements.
  • Oversee team service opportunities and schedule weekly team Mass (during the season).
  • Act as a team representative and promote the sport by communicating with the news media, alumni groups, service clubs, and other organizations at the school.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding athletic performance of their student.
  • Manage girls flag football budget with fiscal responsibility.
  • Collaborate with the athletic training staff regarding player health and safety.
  • Represent Loyola Academy and the girls flag football program in a professional manner.
  • Maintain nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or other appropriate administrator.

  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling objects of average weight up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Qualifications

  • The position requires a bachelor’s degree, one to three (1-3) plus years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Prior coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level preferably someone who has been a head coach or varsity assistant coach.
  • Proficient with the use of Hudl.
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours, ability to maintain a flexible work schedule that may include working nights and weekends.
  • Pre-Employment screening is required: criminal background check and drug testing.
