The Wheeler School, a co-ed, N-12 independent day school with city and farm campuses serving approximately 800 students in the Greater Providence and Greater Boston areas, is seeking a Head Girls Basketball Coach beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. Wheeler is a proud member of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council and the Eastern Independent League. This is a part-time stipended position with primary coaching responsibilities between November and the first week of March. There is the potential to provide occasional out-of-season workouts to those who are interested.

Ideal candidates for coaching positions at Wheeler are people with a sense of humor, warmth, and humility. They are excellent communicators, with empathy for others and an ability to listen and respond with good intuition and work well with their colleagues. They are ambitious and hard-working, committed to supporting the student-athlete experience by offering help and creating new opportunities. Additionally, they possess the versatility to work with a range of skill levels and an array of learning styles. When developing and executing practice and game plans, our coaches are knowledgeable and curious, striving each year to stretch and grow, to implement new ideas that improve the Wheeler athletic experience. Ultimately, they love to spend time with young people and enjoy all that the creative, energetic, and diverse Wheeler community has to offer.

As a coach at Wheeler, you will become part of a dynamic and passionate staff with the opportunity to work with talented and engaged student-athletes every day. The position also involves traveling with the team to and from away games and opportunities for professional development on and off the court. A bachelor’s degree is required for this position as well as previous coaching experience at the high school and/or collegiate levels.
