The Grocery Associate provides customer-friendly service to our valuable customers and provides the quality products that Adams is known for. This means fulfilling customer requests, filling and rotating the shelves and coolers, keeping the department clean, and being the final line for quality control in the department.

Job Description
Ensure that customers receive the best customer service by providing friendly, polite, and knowledgeable service
Greet customers personally and thank them appreciatively for shopping at Adams
Scan all products to ensure proper pricing, including both sale and regular prices
Ensure that items are stocked in an eye-pleasing manner with appropriate signage
Stock and rotate products to keep older product in front and stock shelves, coolers, and display areas, making sure each package is priced correctly with appropriate signage
Be the final line for quality control: look for packaging issues, sell-by dates, and be vigilant about quality and presentation of all products put onto the shelves or into coolers
Check codes on everything to make sure we provide only the freshest products
Check all dates on deliveries received
Keep all back stock in the warehouse organized
Report any concerns or questions to the Manager, Assistant Manager, or Supervisor
Notify grocery manager/diary supervisor of any temperature changes or any short codes
Carry a walkie-talkie to respond to customer or employee questions
Assist customers with special orders
Bag for customers at registers when needed
Keep all areas of the department clean and organized, including sales floor, aisles, shelves, coolers, and warehouse
When a customer needs assistance, give the customer priority over task at hand
If assigned, answer phones
If assigned, obtain a forklift certification and safely operate forklift
If assigned, assist with training new associates
Physical Requirements
Consistently lift and move 50 pounds
Stand for duration of the shift
Work in cold temperatures for the duration of the shift
Safely operate and use u-boats, pallet jack, and hand carts
Use the compactor and cardboard crusher for disposing of garbage and recycling (age 18+ only)
Climb up and down a stepstool, stepladder, and ladder
Mental/Reasoning Requirements
Communicate clearly with customers and co-workers
Employees are our internal customers; treat them with the same courtesy and respect as our external customers
Must work efficiently and at a productive pace per department needs
Must be able to work scheduled shift
Follow all department safety policies and procedures
Be knowledgeable about Adams product – recommend ideas to customers by exploring customer preferences and advocating Adams product
