Are you an Electrical Engineer ready to analyze clean energy technologies related to grid resiliency and flexibility? California Energy Commission (CEC) is hiring a Grid Innovation Electrical Engineer withintheEnergy Research & Development Division (ERDD). This Associate Electric Engineer state classification/position is within the Energy Systems & Transportation Branch (ESTB) and provides an opportunity to help lead California to a 100% clean energy future for all.

Our Energy Research & Development Division (ERDD) deploys over $300 million annually to advance technology innovation and research supporting the state’s clean energy and climate goals, including in the areas of renewable energy supply, building and industrial decarbonization, sustainable transportation, energy storage, energy distribution, resilience and reliability, and carbon management.
The Energy Systems & Transportation Branch (ESTB) enables a clean and reliable energy system through new energy storage technologies and technologies to integrate distributed energy resources (e.g., onsite energy storage, clean distributed generation, and electric vehicle technologies) into the grid and the advancement of methods, tools, and technologies to support gas and electricity infrastructure decarbonization, modernization, safety, and integrity.
Desirable Qualifications:
Technical background in energy storage systems, renewable energy integration, electric power systems, clean energy transition, electrification, and/or energy infrastructure modernization.
Working knowledge in electric power systems and power electronics including electrical theory and practice; electrical equipment; power distribution and control systems; various codes and field practices governing the design and installation of electrical and electronic equipment; and materials and maintenance of electrical installations.
Accurately interpret drawings, circuit diagrams, and specifications.
Ability to communicate effectively and be able to relay complicated information in a simple, consumer-friendly manner.
Strong research and analytical skills and ability to make well-supported recommendations for planning and decision-making.
Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize work activities, and deliver high-quality, timely work products.
Ability to draft, review, and edit technical information for various audiences, including Commission leadership and the public.
Three years of professional electrical engineering experience (Required).
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
