Qualifications

Possession of appropriate certification and fulfillment of highly qualified requirements.

Documentation of a negative Mantoux skin test or other tuberculosis-screening test recommended by the US Centers for Disease Control administered within 12 months before the starting date of employment.

A Food Handler's Card authorized through the Arizona Department of Health prior to the starting date of employment.

Person(s) designated by the Board or Superintendent.

Supervises

Paraprofessionals, volunteers, students, and student teachers.

Key Responsibilities

I. Subject Matter Expertise:

Demonstrate proficiency in subject areas.

Exhibit knowledge of curriculum development, including scope and sequence.

II. Interpersonal Skills

Foster effective communication with students.

Cultivate mutual respect within the learning environment.

Promote positive self-concepts in learners.

Maintain a dynamic and engaging learning atmosphere.

Express enthusiasm for learning through effective communication.

Demonstrate correct written and oral expression.

III. Instruction Planning

Develop weekly lesson plans reflecting goals, objectives, and activities.

Assess students' skill levels to determine appropriate learning objectives.

Plan instruction to achieve selected objectives.

Ensure appropriate student engagement with relevant academic activities.

Adhere to the district's curriculum design.

Sequence learning activities to attain specific goals and objectives.

Plan instruction at varying cognitive levels to accommodate individual differences and specific needs.

Organize resources to facilitate goal achievement.

Monitor and assess student progress using specified procedures.

IV. Instruction Delivery

Provide instruction tailored to students' skill levels.

Teach to specified learning objectives in logical sequences.

Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and methods.

Model correct performance for students.

Monitor student learning throughout the process.

Adjust instruction to meet individual needs.

Evaluate students according to objective criteria.

V. Learning Principles Utilization

Communicate the purpose and value of learning objectives to students.

Provide adequate teacher-directed and independent practice.

Hold all students accountable for learning.

Establish appropriate focus at the beginning of learning objectives.

Summarize learning using various methods.

VI. Classroom Management

Implement effective classroom management techniques.

Clearly communicate expectations for appropriate behavior.

Manage inappropriate behavior using approved discipline procedures.

Work effectively with individuals, small groups, and large groups as needed.

Engage in ongoing professional development.

Share professional ideas and seek opportunities for growth.

Maintain confidentiality and discretion in handling professional information.
