Location: Highland House @ The Dunedin Golf Club

Reports To: Director of Operations

Status: Full-Time (Exempt)

Position Summary:

The Food and Beverage Manager at Highland House will oversee all aspects of the clubhouse's dining and bar services, beverage cart operations, and private event management. This role is central to enhancing the dining experience, ensuring exceptional service standards, and fostering a welcoming atmosphere for club members and guests. The manager will be directly responsible for the operational and financial success of the food and beverage department, including daily restaurant operations, promotions, member events, and staff management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the clubhouse’s restaurant and bar, ensuring all food and beverage services exceed member expectations.
  • Manage and support the Executive Chef, Bar Manager, and Event Coordinator, and Service Manager ensuring cohesive team efforts that align with the club’s standards.
  • Spearhead the development and implementation of innovative promotional activities and member events designed to enhance the dining experience and increase member engagement.
  • Responsible for the operational management of the beverage cart services, ensuring efficient service delivery across the golf course.
  • Coordinate and oversee all private events, working closely with the Event Coordinator to ensure flawless execution and guest satisfaction.
  • Manage the annual food and beverage budget, monitor financial performance, and implement strategies to achieve financial goals.
  • Train and mentor food and beverage staff, instilling high service standards and comprehensive product knowledge.
  • Regularly evaluate food and beverage operations and staff performance, making adjustments as necessary to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the food and beverage operations.
  • Act as a primary liaison for food and beverage vendors, negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.


The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has a PASSION for food and beverage.
  • Demonstrates extensive experience managing food and beverage operations in a hospitality or golf club setting.
  • Possesses strong leadership skills with experience managing diverse teams, including kitchen staff, service teams, and event coordinators.
  • Shows a proven track record of financial management, including budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting.
  • Exhibits creativity and initiative in member engagement and promotional events.
  • Maintains a deep understanding of the culinary and beverage trends relevant to a golf club environment.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of food and beverage management experience, with at least 3 years in a golf club or similar setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of restaurant/golf club profit and loss management.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and train staff.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proven track record of creating high performing teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and restaurant management software.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Food Safety Manager Certification and any relevant beverage service certification.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • May be required to bend, stoop, and perform extensive walking, including movement over uneven surfaces.
