Job Overview

The primary responsibility of this position is to help create and validate a global master production schedule (MPS) for a given category(s) that seeks to optimize customer service and inventory levels globally. This is accomplished by assessing the global demand, current supply picture and production capacity in order to establish the optimal global master production schedule and procurement plans. Ongoing maintenance of schedules is required to enable excellent communications throughout the company and with our customers and subsidiaries regarding product availability.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Support and contribute to Global Sales and Operations Planning process (S&OP) – gains approval on identified solutions to supply vs. demand gaps
  • Analyze, evaluate, and make recommendations in new finished goods replenishment requirements for domestic and international manufacturing operations based on demand requirements
  • Using SAP output based on global forecasts, calculate, process and release the Master Production Schedule monthly to Finance as well as site specific production forecasts derived from the MPS
  • Assists in recommending capacity shifts based on SAP-driven forward-looking production requirements and capacity planning
  • Create purchase orders based on the MPS
  • Escalate prolonged supply gaps to supporting organizations (i.e. Strategic Sourcing) in a timely and effective manner
  • Assist in ensuring overall system integrity as it relates to finished goods planning parameters via master data audits and reviewing configuration settings
  • Establish and maintain finished good Days of Supply stocking strategies/targets
  • Using SAP output, refresh the MPS weekly, updating balance of month and yearly requirements to reflect actual demand against forecast. Release site-specific production forecast refresh output weekly
  • Support and create global production splits for all New Product Introductions (NPI) and incorporate into the MPS in alignment with regional launch timing and target requirements
  • Incorporate End of Life (EOL) Planning for all models in assigned category(s) into the MPS volumes to support inventory draw down of any product-specific raw materials at manufacturing sites and finished goods inventory draw down in all subsidiaries in accord with final forecasts and final sell dates in each region
  • Will help monitor and report out Key Performance Indicators
  • Assists in reviewing, identifying, and resolving any barriers to near-term and long-range balance of supply with demand
  • Participate in Sales, Operations, Engineering and planning meetings to assist new product introductions and to resolve material or process issues on existing products
  • Will help support close-out programs upon general direction from management by initiating finished goods balancing and rework, while coordinating with other analysts and sales
  • Will help identify opportunities for process improvement and help lead projects in supply chain management arena, to potentially include offshore assembly, determining supply chain flow for new products, new product delivery strategies and mitigation of obsolescence
  • Customer service point person for all global selling regions
  • Provide on-site backup support the production scheduler in Chicopee


TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze detail and perform structured decision-making on a daily basis.
  • Experienced in the use of standard Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for management reporting and presentation.
  • General knowledge of industry practices, standards, and techniques. Will be required to regularly apply the full array of all relevant principles and concepts in execution of duties.
  • Ability to develop solutions to a variety of problems of large to very large scope and complexity, often creating or revising company or departmental policies in the process.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize concepts, practices, and tools to resolve problems or improve processes.
  • Must be capable of demonstrating job history of successfully managing all aspects of material and capacity planning in a manufacturing environment and a complete grasp of inventory management practices.
  • Experienced in project management skills with some formal project management training preferred.
  • Preferred formal training in quantitative problem solving methods (i.e. linear programming)
  • Intermediate knowledge of SAP or other similar enterprise wide MRP and APS systems, and corresponding reporting tools such as Business Warehouse (BW).
  • Intermediate level in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Suite applications.


Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in field relevant to job description (e.g., Operations, Production Planning, Industrial Engineering).
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in relevant field
  • APICS (or other as appropriate) certified, or certification in progress and actively pursuing a plus
  • Well-established track record in planning and purchasing within a manufacturing environment


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT (if Applicable)

  • Work is performed in a designated professional office workstation and environment.
  • Extensive use of office equipment to include computer, calculator, copier, fax, and other business related machines and software.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required
