The Carlisle Group has been retained to search for a Global Sourcing Director. Our client is America’s Most Admired Home Remodeling Brand®, operating in 40+ markets across 18 states. The company was founded in 2006, employs 3,000 employees, and is now at approximately $1B in sales. They are the leading experts in residential shower, bath, window, and door replacement, specializing in a fast, easy, and convenient home remodeling experience.

Organization Position:

The Global Sourcing Director reports to the Chief Operating Officer and will build a sourcing team of direct and indirect sourcing category managers.

Job Summary:

The Global Sourcing Director will support the development of the company’s supply chain strategy and the creation of the sourcing organization.

Essential Functions:

  • Source a wide array of commodities including acrylic walls, shower pans, bathroom flooring, vanities, faucets, etc.
  • Formulate and execute documented commodity strategies.
  • Locate and develop new suppliers, as well as strengthen relationships with existing suppliers.
  • Deliver YOY cost reductions on raw materials.
  • Develop Value Analysis and Value Engineering Functions.
  • Partner with Supplier Quality group to reduce Cost of Quality YOY and to vet new suppliers.
  • Develop a thorough level of knowledge of the corporate goals to communicate the corporate “message” to existing and potential suppliers.
  • Remain current with market trends through relationships with regional suppliers and market experts, identifying and communicating new technologies and solutions to Global Sourcing.
  • Develop and implement procurement policies and procedures for the business.
  • Develop sourcing material inflation/deflation walks, savings trackers, managing working cost of capital.
  • Lead cross functional business activities to identify, qualify, and implement new suppliers to ensure surety of supply, deflation, and business profitability.
  • Authority to negotiate contracts and use a contract management system.
  • Aid in the maintenance of material and vendor master items, development of process mapping and working with the respective global teams to ensure data cleanliness and accuracy.
  • Partner with indirect sourcing team to build efficiency.
  • Lead the team with supplier scorecards.
  • Extensive risk mitigation experience for e.g., single source reduction, Tier 2 supplier dependency etc.
  • Expected to travel up to 10% per year.
  • Maintain regular, punctual in person attendance consistent with the ADAAA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.

Leadership Accountabilities:

You have a responsibility to lead your teams in accordance with the corporate leadership philosophy, implementing all 10 of the Managerial Leadership Practices (MLPs).

  • Conduct regular meetings with all immediate subordinate employees to discuss overall business context, plans, and problems; ensure employees understand how their roles and tasks align with organization’s mission and vision; seek inputs/suggestions from subordinate employees.
  • Assign tasks, projects, or special assignments clearly so employees know what is required of them, how much, by when and what resources are available for them to use to achieve the task.
  • Appraise how effectively subordinate employees use their judgment and discretion in carrying out tasks and solving problems; discusses appraisals with them as an ongoing working dialogue focusing on their future growth and development.
  • Coach subordinates to increase their effectiveness in their role and to meet their expectations; mentor subordinates-once-removed in career progression.
  • Decide subordinate pay and merit increases within established organization compensation guidelines; communicate pay revisions with them.
  • Select new employees from a list of job candidates selected by the recruiting department based on yours and your manager’s prescribed criteria.
  • Make de-selection decisions if employees cannot perform the work required and inform the immediate manager once the process begins.
  • Make dismissal decisions if employees are found guilty of a serious infraction of the Company’s rules and regulations, in accordance with HR guidelines.
  • Continuously improve the systems and processes used to deliver outputs within your assigned area of operation.
  • Interact with other company leaders to learn how to support and improve the customer journey.

What Success Looks Like:

A successful Global Sourcing Director will focus on cost savings year over year through strategic sourcing efforts. This position will succeed by lowering total costs of all materials, goods, software, etc. This position will identify, qualify, and implement new suppliers to ensure surety of supply, deflation, and business profitability and strengthen relationships with existing suppliers. The biggest measures of success in the role of Global Sourcing Director will be in the ability to support the development of the company’s supply chain strategy, reduce year over year costs, and develop procurement policies and procedures for the long-term goals of the business.

Minimum Role Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree required; technical or business/supply chain; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 10+ years of demonstrated Sourcing experience with 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Asia sourcing experience.
  • Sourcing/supply chain experience with at least one of the following commodities – acrylic, vanities, flooring is preferred.
  • Experience formulating and executing documented commodity strategies.
  • Experience developing sourcing material inflation / deflation walks, savings trackers, managing working cost of capital.
  • Experience negotiating contracts and experience using a contract management system.
  • Experience with indirect sourcing – packaging, corporate services, MRO, capital, and real estate.
  • Experience with ERP or use of bolt of software necessary.
  • Knowledge of indirect sourcing.
  • Strong Word, Excel, Access, Project, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Must have a valid smart phone or smart device to log in to Company required systems using two-factor authentication.

Work Environment, Mental or Physical Requirements:

  • The standard workweek for this position is Monday – Friday (in the office and in the field).
  • Must be able to sit and use office equipment (computer, mouse, phone, etc.) for extended periods of time.
  • Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions with standard level of noise common to an office environment including office equipment and co-workers speaking to each other and on phones.
  • Must be able to drive personal and/or company vehicle to and from job/appointment sites.
  • Ability to maintain driver’s license and be insured under company policy.
