Description of Position

TPG’s Global Communications team is responsible for managing all aspects of the firm’s brand and reputation, strategic internal and external communications, and corporate marketing. The team is looking for an Associate to join full time in New York. The individual will work across the Communications group, providing strategic guidance and support to TPG’s businesses spanning private equity, credit, and real estate. Working closely with colleagues in the Communications team and stakeholders across the firm, they will contribute to content strategy and execution, media relations, digital and social media channel development, and other communications and brand priorities.


The ideal candidate will be an exceptional writer and editor and a motivated, energetic individual who is highly organized, able to multi-task, and has excellent attention to detail and strong project management skills. They will be a proactive self-starter that can work both independently and as a collaborative member of the broader Communications team and is able to build and maintain a network of stakeholders at all levels across the firm.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Play a core role in supporting the implementation of the firm’s communications strategy, investment team and portfolio company counsel/support, and new business activities.
  • Draft and edit communications materials and content related to the firm and its investment strategies, including but not limited to press releases, social media posts, client communications, talking points and Q&As, announcement rollout/strategy plans, thought leadership articles, internal memos, and award submissions.
  • Provide media relations support for key initiatives and strategies.
  • Assist in the development and ongoing maintenance of external and internal editorial content calendar across all channels, including TPG-owned social media accounts, website, newsletters, and firmwide meetings.
  • Provide drafting, editing, and proofing support for paid media content including Q&As, articles, and podcasts/videos.
  • Maintain media, conference, and awards databases for the firm and businesses, and assist with research and evaluation of speaking opportunities and awards participation.
  • Keep up with and provide research/analysis on trends across the media landscape, including paid/earned media opportunities, reporter moves, etc., as well as macro, societal, industry, and market trends and issues impacting TPG and its businesses.
  • Track and conduct analysis of media coverage of portfolio companies, peers, and industries.
  • Occasionally provide internal communications support, including for TPG’s weekly firmwide meeting, intranet, and affinity groups.
  • Commit to continuous learning and improvement that will enhance the overall team’s processes and results.


Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience working at an agency or in-house communications/PR role.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Exceptional writing/proofreading, research, and analytical skills, with a fundamental understanding of or interest in finance.
  • Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders and effectively collaborate with teams across multiple geographies and levels of the firm.
  • The desire to work in a fast paced, demanding environment; highly organized with the ability to multitask on various high-profile projects.
  • A quick learner, who is intellectually curious prepared to jump in at a moment’s notice.
  • Interest in an array of projects across digital media, corporate communications, and corporate marketing.
  • Technological proficiency and well versed in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Financial services experience essential; working knowledge and interest in investment management an advantage.



It is expected that the annual base salary for this role will be up to $100,000. Base salary is one component of TPG’s competitive total rewards package which typically includes discretionary compensation, comprehensive health benefits, and paid time off. Other incentives may also be available to certain eligible employees.
