SUMMARY:

The primary role of a General Manager in the Packaging and Paper Operations is to drive exemplary results in the production, quality and profitability. You will ensure that product specifications are met with a high standard of quality; ensure compliance with all standards, policies, regulations, for the safe, environmentally sound production of a quality product driving profitability.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provides management and leadership to management teams establishing and maintaining standards in safety, continuous improvements, environmental compliance and cost control
  • Lead continues process improvement initiative in all functional area with a focus on increased production, quality, scheduling and cost effectiveness
  • Set clear goals and report on performance regularly to ensure focus and alignment
  • Collaborate with sales on client needs, issues and opportunities to drive revenue and continued customer satisfaction
  • Responsible for profit and loss, budgeting and work closely with Senior Management on operating cost and capital expenditures
  • Implements policies and procedures, collaborates with central Senior Management on operating cost and capital expenditures
  • Drive positive morale throughout staff by showing fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee problems
  • Participate and ensure department is compliant with industry audit standards
  • Special projects and assignments as business dictates.
  • Responsible for the maintenance, creation and control of all personally identifiable information or any other information protected by any Confidentiality or Privacy Standards or Company Policies that you have access or knowledge of, including but not limited to any state or federal regulations including HIPPA.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business/engineering or related field preferred
  • 10 years of leadership experience with a 50+ employee in high volume manufacturing required
  • Ability to drive analytical and strategic goals to evaluate short- and long-term goals and cost impact
  • Proven management experience in a high-volume department
  • Proven staffing training & development experience
  • Must possess excellent attention to detail, problem solving and follow-up with a strong sense of urgency and time management skills.
  • Comprehension of general manufacturing concepts related to efficiency, quality, safety, workflow and mechanics
  • Lean manufacturing, Six-Sigma, or TQM administration experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of web-based or paper converting, packaging, or printing experience preferred
  • Flexibility to manage a 24/7 continuous manufacturing facility

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise: 50 nonexempt and 10 exempts

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Regularly required to stands and walk, climb, kneel, crouch and crawl; use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, varying temperatures. The noise level is such that hearing protection is required in the production area.
