The CDC National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), has an exciting career opportunity for General Engineer/ Physical Scientist (Interdisciplinary) within the National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory (NPPTL).

As a General Engineer/ Physical Scientist (Interdisciplinary) you will:

  • Serve as a senior advisor and expert in planning, organizing, conducting, and directing extensive efforts relative to personal protective technology (PPT) for the assigned Branch.
  • Serve as an expert consultant in conformity assessment evaluation and testing methods for personal protective equipment (PPE) and/or in management of the federal mandated respirator approval program.
  • Serve as an expert consultant for evaluation results and expert review for accuracy and compliance in accordance with Title 42, Code of Federal Regulations Part 84, the quality assurance aspects of applicable Code of Federal Regulations, the Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) and Mine Safety and Health (MSHA) Acts of 1977, and associated regulations including 30 CFR Part 74, 42 CFR Part 84, and 29 CFR Part 1910.
  • Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set, and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work, when necessary.
