Join our innovative team as a Furniture Designer for our trend-driven home decor brand. Lulu and Georgia is seeking a creative individual with a passion for furniture design, trends, and a keen eye for detail. In our fast-paced work environment where creativity thrives and innovative ideas are welcomed, driving the dynamic landscape of trend-driven home decor. As a Furniture Designer, you will be responsible for designing casegoods and upholstery pieces while ensuring high-quality designs that align with our brand aesthetic. You will play a key role in the entire design process, from interpretations of concepts to technical drawings and engineering for construction and stability. This position requires a deep understanding of international mass production standards to deliver exceptional designs that meet our quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop casegoods and upholstery pieces that reflect current trends and the brand aesthetic for collections and licensee collaborations
- Create detailed technical drawings and specifications for manufacturing, including materials, dimensions, and construction methods
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including the buying team, sourcing, and manufacturing to ensure designs are feasible for production
- Conduct market research on materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes to inform design decisions and enhance product quality
- Implement engineering principles to ensure structural integrity, stability, and durability of furniture designs
- Conduct thorough market research to ensure that designs are distinct from existing one
- Collaborate closely with the VP of Product Development to refine design details that reflect the overarching goals of the collection's aesthetic
- Stay updated on industry trends, consumer preferences, and competitor offerings to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and adhere to project timelines and budgets
- Efficiently and promptly incorporate design revisions and feedback to meet project timelines
- Securely harness AI to accelerate concept-to-market timelines
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Furniture Design, Industrial Design, or related field
- Proven experience as a furniture designer, preferably within the home decor industry
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks. Rhino) Adobe Creative Suite, and G suite
- Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and international mass production standards
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to translate design concepts into detailed technical drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of furniture construction techniques, joinery, and upholstery methods
