ABOUT THE POSITION: The History Department at the University of Alabama in Huntsville is taking applications for a one-year lecturer position with specializations in 19th or 20th century US history with experience teaching world history. This position has the possibility of renewal in subsequent years. 


Responsibilities: The regular teaching load is four courses (12 credit hours) per semester and may include online, hybrid, and traditional formats. The successful candidate will teach world history and US surveys, with the possibility of an upper-level course in the candidate’s specialization. They will be expected to perform some department service as part of their appointment. 


Qualifications: Preference for a PhD in History, although ABD candidates will also be considered. Candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The History Department at UAH is composed of collegial faculty committed to teaching historical thinking. In addition to a history major and history MA program, the department teaches courses in interdisciplinary minors in Public History, Global Studies, Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, Justice and Equity Studies, and Ancient and Medieval Studies.
