Full-Time Communications Coordinator

Experience And Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum three years experience working with communications media, and handling institutional public relations.
  • Working knowledge of word processing, publishing software, spreadsheets, using a database, assorted computerized office programs photography and video technology and website management.
  • Ability to organize and plan work and to complete assignments on own initiative.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with others in a manner that demonstrates professionalism, respect, and dignity.
  • Act 34 Clearance, Act 151 Clearance, FBI Clearance (self-paid)
  • Act 126 and Act 71 Certificates
  • Drug Screening (self-paid)
  • Letter of Interest, Resume and application on District website


Primary Duties And Responsibilities


  • Create and implement new programs that will enhance the image of the District internally and the community.
  • Prepare and distribute news releases with the activities of the School District.
  • Respond to all Right to Know requests to include extension requests, granting and or denial of requests and distribution of requested documents.
  • Write and place feature articles on District personnel, programs and concerns.
  • Collect feature stories/content and prepare a monthly District newsletter to be posted on the District’s website.
  • Manage and add content to the District website
  • Manage and add content to the District’s social media accounts
  • Prepare and distribute public service announcements for television, radio stations and social media accounts.
  • Research content and provide support for written correspondence, speeches, reports and letters.
  • Prepare and select editorial and photographic materials for newsletters.
  • Provide rough layout for newsletters and other publications.
  • Work with printers on the production of newsletters and other District publications.
  • Act as spokesperson/liaison for the District, when delegated, at various events.
  • Work closely with the Superintendent and serve on management teams as requested.
  • Be informed of District events and incidents, both confidential and public knowledge.
  • Maintain existing public relations programs of the District.
  • Assist the Superintendent and Board of School Directors with various public relations projects.
  • Edit District materials for content, in preparation for publication and distribution.
  • Attend Board of School Directors meetings and other District-wide meetings.
