Hello! We are currently seeking a friendly front desk agent for part time or full time work for our unique music themed Hotel/Hostel as well as processing and assisting with clients of Music City Rehearsal and the San Francisco Music Hall of Fame Gallery. Flexibility, as well as weekend, evening (3pm - 11:30pm) and holiday availability is a must.

We are a hospitality and music complex in the Lower Nob Hill/Polk Gulch neighborhood just off Van Ness Avenue. We are currently looking for an ambitious individual with a passion for hospitality, music and customer service, someone with an eye towards advancing their career path and growing with our company. It is a fast paced role that will be enjoyed by someone who thinks on their feet and enjoys something new every day. Job duties and functions are including, but not limited to:

  • Greeting guests in a friendly manner as they enter and leave the building
  • Checking in and checking out guests efficiently and accurately according to procedures. Welcoming them to the city and helping them with directions and suggestions.
  • Assisting guests with luggage up and down entryway staircase
  • Tidying and setting up of rehearsal rooms daily and in between sessions
  • Taking time to help guests with queries and directions as well as providing suggestions for things to do around the city
  • Documenting and taking appropriate action to address guest suggestions and complaints as well as logging maintenance or housekeeping action items.
  • Taking reservations and responding to information queries via phone or email
  • Accurately processing and completing reservations as well as guest queries from online travel agencies via email
  • Office tasks such as creating guest room key cards, maintaining a clean work area, preparing reports nightly, and compiling guest registration cards and check in lists
  • Finding creative solutions to the unique challenges of the industry while still maintaining service excellence towards the guest experience
  • Assisting guests with retail sales and/or music instrument rentals
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements and Skills:

  • Customer service oriented personality with a passion for providing service excellence
  • A love of the local Bay Area and an enthusiasm for providing insight into the area to guests as well as ideas for activities and things to do from a visitor perspective
  • Sales skills and sales background
  • Experience dealing with billing and invoices in a Hospitality or client services setting
  • Flexible schedule is a must -- able to work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Previous Front Desk or Hotel/Hostel experience is preferred but not required
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Computer skills and proficiency needed, particularly with MS office suite and Gsuite, other systems and platforms
  • Reliable and trustworthy
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast paced environment
  • Self starter who takes the initiative to solve problems
  • Ability to problem solve, multi-task, and find ways to be productive without direct supervision
  • Multi-lingual a plus
  • Comfortable enforcing policies, rules, and asking unauthorized building visitors to leave the premises
  • Knowledge of musical instruments & music gear not required, but a huge plus!
  • High School Diploma Required
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs/walk up and down several flights of stairs regularly during a shift

Music City San Francisco, located at 1353 Bush Street in San Francisco, is dedicated to providing services to developing musicians and providing unique experiences to music lovers and travelers centered around the intersection of Hospitality and Music. It encompasses the following projects:

  • Music City Hotel offering affordable and music-themed Hostel and private room options for travelers and music lovers
  • Music City Rehearsal provides affordable, quality rehearsal studios on an hourly basis to thousands of local musicians
  • Live Music: Our building will feature 4 live music venues of varying sizes throughout the building, as well as one outdoor venue
  • San Francisco Music Hall of Fame, curated by Ben Fong-Torres, featuring images of 90+ of the most important Bay Area acts, including original write ups and audio tour. Eventually to include full on museum exhibits
  • Music City Entertainment, a 501c3 public charity which provides commission-free booking to local working artists
  • Music City Artist Development, a developing music education provider
  • Music City Cafe, our kitchen and bar project with full food service, liquor bar, and coffee service
  • Music City TV, an online streaming station showcasing the talent in our facilities
  • Music City Radio, an online radio concert calendar playing music from upcoming concerts in the bay area
