Write of Passage began in 2019 as an experiment: How do we teach writing for the Internet Age?
We’ve run eleven online cohorts of our flagship course in four years. Over 1,500 students worldwide have learned a system for publishing quality ideas, connecting with like-minded people, and elevating their careers through writing on the Internet. Our graduates are using online writing to build audiences, launch businesses, and make an impact—living life on their terms!
Write of Passage is now considered the gold standard for community-driven, cohort-based, online courses. And, we’re growing. Our vision is to build a global platform for writing instruction in the 21st century while delivering the best educational experience in the world.
Contract Videographer
If you are looking for part-time (flexible hours) work in the center of Austin and you are an incredible digital videographer then we want to talk to you.
We are not just building a writing school, we’re building an independent media company.
What You’ll Be Doing
Record the best quality footage at our state-of-the-art studio in central Austin and work with our production team to deliver superb experiences for our guests and team.
What you won’t do:
Provide equipment
Work with us full-time
In this role, you will:
Share your availability in good time with our production management team
Agree to a roster of engagements
Familiarize yourself with our studio set up and equipment (training will be provided)
Set up the studio in good time for recording
Be the go-to technical person in the studio (not just video: audio, teleprompters, backing up footage)
Record superb video for podcasts, YouTube content, marketing videos & course content that is ready to go without need for significant adjustments
Take feedback on board and constantly improve
Develop Standard Operating Procedures to improve our production workflows
Bonus (if you can) edit videos

Proactive communication – we have a fleet of projects in motion, so people who take initiative will stand out
Perfect reliability, if you say you will be there you are there 10 minutes early
Superb technical skills, if a piece of software in our setup changes or gear breaks, it doesn’t panic you. You work it out then show how you improved the system to everyone else on the production team
Excellent videography (this goes without saying) – our videos look and sound superb
You elevate technical workflows from good to great, with suggestions on how we can use our studio better
Your warm and welcoming presence puts our guests and team at ease

Worked as a videographer for 2 - 3 years for great digital projects (e.g. YouTube, podcasts, live streams)
