Fractional Editorial Manager
Responsibilities
Kforce has a client in Washington, DC that is seeking a Fractional Editorial Manager who will proofread, copyedit, perform substantive edits, or, as needed, suggest rewrites for marketing and communications projects and initiatives, products, and services, ensuring adherence to style, quality, continuity, and clarity with understanding of the nuances of each product. Responsibilities:

Kforce has a client in Washington, DC that is seeking a Fractional Editorial Manager who will proofread, copyedit, perform substantive edits, or, as needed, suggest rewrites for marketing and communications projects and initiatives, products, and services, ensuring adherence to style, quality, continuity, and clarity with understanding of the nuances of each product. Responsibilities:
- Serve as project manager and liaison for the contractors and freelance editors and writers who serve as backup during exceptionally busy periods
- Contribute to and help update the supporting documents and guidance that ensure the entire organization advances the clients style and branding; These materials include the detailed house style guide (primarily following AP) and specialized style guides, such as Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), conference branding, and best practices and language guidance
- Consult on messaging frameworks surrounding the clients brand
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, English or related field; Master's degree a plus
- 8+ years of experience in communications and at least 3 years of people leadership experience is preferred
- Expertise in writing, editing and project management
- High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint - and Acrobat Pro. Experience using Asana or a similar project management tool a plus
- Ability to develop productive relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
- Ability to think strategically
- Ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot
- Results-oriented with a high attention to detail, ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a demanding, fast-paced environment
- Requires a high level of understanding of the nuances of communication at all levels
- Ability to quickly adapt to a broad spectrum of materials - from scientific papers to promotional pieces
- Proficiency in AP Style and APA citation guidelines, with adaptability to adhere to nuances of the National Council's unique style
- Broad understanding of communications, media and language; the confidence to serve as a consultant and advisor on writing and editorial matters
- Adaptability to deal with all levels of authority with skill and tact
- Experience in a nonprofit health care organization preferred
