Food Truck Driver

Position Title: Food Service Truck Driver – Full-time, 12-month

Location: Reading High School Commissary

Classification: Teamsters

Reports To: Food Services Manager, Director of Facilities or designee

Position Rate: $21.93 per hour

Position Goal: The employee is responsible for operating a straight box truck for the delivery and distribution of supplies and materials as determined by the operational requirements of the Reading School District. This work is accomplished exercising all required safety precautions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Other duties may be assigned.

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following fundamental duties:

• Delivers supplies, materials and food for district wide breakfast, lunch and snack programs.
• Loads and unloads food and related supplies cautiously to avoid breakage and damage.
• Meet delivery schedules.
• Carry cell phone daily to ensure contact with Central Commissary should emergencies arise.
• Maintain pleasant demeanor and be courteous to all remembering to represent Reading School District in a positive manner.
• Assist in cleaning and maintenance of Food Service property and equipment including tidiness on a daily basis of Food Service areas.
• Other duties as assigned by Food Services Manage, General Foreman or designee.
  
  

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION:

Schedule vacations, comp time, etc., as not to conflict with other Food Service Truck Drivers / Stock Clerk / Custodian’s vacations, etc.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license. Ability demonstrated to drive manual transmission vehicle.

Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.

Must have a clear driving record.

Language Skills

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with assigned staff and public.

Intermittently sits and stands as a result of continuously getting in and out of vehicles. Specific vision capabilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to hear conversations in noisy environments. The employee must be able to drive all district vehicles. The employee is responsible to provide for the safety and well being of those within the immediate vicinity of where the essential functions of the job are being performed.

Work involves exposure to unpleasant elements, extreme temperatures, disagreeable odors, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noises, chemicals, etc. Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require the following extensive safety precautions, and may include the use of protective gear. Work is generally performed outdoors regardless of weather and subjects the employee to heat, cold, high humidity, rain, snow, wind and other forces of nature. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Position demands meeting deadlines and the ability to work overtime in order to meet reporting deadlines.
