Position Overview:

We seek a Food Technologist who will work with the R&D Manager and the Senior Food Scientists on a daily basis. The technologist will assist in the areas of laboratory blending and filling, storage testing, flavor evaluation, color blending and sample maintenance. The intern will also be exposed to other areas of operation in Quality and Production as they relate to Research and Development.

Job Responsibilities:

·        Assist Twang Senior Food Scientists in dry blending and filling, shelf-life studies, flavor evaluation, color blending, and sample maintenance.

·        Maintain accurate project files, formulas, specifications and data

·        Assist in new product trials in manufacturing. Work to take formulations from lab batch size to production batch

·        Manage lab inventory and order material supplies as needed

·        Ensure the lab and all equipment used is kept clean and properly maintained

·        Additional duties as assigned

Education and Skill Requirements:

·        BS in Food Science or Food Technology or upper-level course-work in a Food Science program. Course-work in alternate science program such as Chemistry is also acceptable.

·        Experience formulating in a food manufacturing environment

·        Excellent organizational skills - must be able to manage data on paper and electronically with good documentation skills.

·        Working knowledge of Microsoft Office package.

·        Excellent oral and written communication skills.

·        Must be self-motivated and able to produce accurate lab work

·        Familiarity with FDA regulations and requirements a plus
