Primary Purpose:


The Area Supervisor will manage and oversee the operation of an assigned area. The ideal candidate should have strong leadership skills and can motivate and manage staff. The Supervisor will ensure that the area is running smoothly and efficiently while meeting the goals and objectives of our organization.


Qualifications:


Education/Certification/License:

  • High School Diploma or GED – Required
  • ServSafe Manager Certification
  • A bachelor's degree in business, management, or a related field is preferred
  • Valid driver’s license


Knowledge/Skills:

  • 3+ years of experience in a supervisory role preferred
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in the industry


Area Supervisor Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance (including the Food Service Management Company) and provide feedback
  • Create and maintain a positive work environment
  • Ensure that all staff are adhering to ILTexas, Child Nutrition Department, and the Texas Department of Agriculture’s policies and procedures
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of staff
  • Facilitate communication between departments
  • Prepare and submit reports on the progress of the area
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to safety regulations
  • Conduct regular physical equipment and supplies inventory
  • Resolve customer complaints and concerns regarding food service
  • Review the end-of-day paperwork for each supervised school
  • Conduct the annual on-site reviews for each campus
  • Ensure that proper procedures are followed for collecting money, entering checks and cash on account, counting money, and preparing the bank deposit, courier bag, and courier receipt.
  • Will communicate effectively with the Assistant Director and the Building Administrator keeping both informed of operational concerns
  • Will ensure the Food Service Management Company prepares food according to standardized recipes and serves reimbursable meals according to state and federal requirements.
  • Responsible for direct supervision of personnel and their adherence to all department standards and policies
  • Will ensure all required daily, weekly, and monthly food service reports are submitted on time
  • Attends training to improve skills and knowledge of job expertise
  • Supervise food service functions to ensure that food is served in a safe and sanitary environment
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items, stand for extended periods of time, and work in a hot and humid environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Nutrition Service Director
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
  • Maintain cleanliness and maintenance of company vehicle
  • Will travel 60% of the time in the Houston area. In addition, travel to training throughout Texas
