Job Description

A Food Service Supervisor oversees the daily operations of food service establishments, ensuring efficient and high-quality food and beverage service.

Responsibilities

• Supervision: Directly supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in food preparation, cooking, serving, and cleaning.
• Customer Service: Ensure excellent customer service and address customer complaints or concerns promptly.
• Staff Training: Train and instruct employees in cooking, preparation, sanitation, and safety procedures.
• Inventory and Ordering: Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and equipment, and place orders when necessary.
• Quality Control: Ensure that food and beverages meet quality standards, and maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.
• Scheduling: Schedule staff shifts and assign duties based on workloads and deadlines.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and licensing laws.
• Budgeting: Assist in planning budgets and monitor expenses and costs.
• Menu Planning: Collaborate with management in developing new menu items and specials.
• Reporting: Prepare reports on food and labor costs, sales, and inventory levels.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Experience: Previous experience in food service or hospitality, with at least some experience in a supervisory role.
• Knowledge: Understanding of food safety regulations, sanitation guidelines, and health standards.
• Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to manage and motivate a team.
• Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with customers, employees, and suppliers.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to handle and resolve conflicts or issues as they arise.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in hospitality or food service management may be preferred.
