Job Title: Food Scientist

Location: Atlanta, GA

Position Summary: Seeking a skilled and innovative Food Scientist to join the R&D team. The Food Scientist will be responsible for developing new products, improving existing products, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality. This role requires a combination of scientific expertise, creativity, and collaboration to drive the product development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Development:

  • Design and develop new food and beverage products from concept to commercialization.
  • Conduct experiments and pilot plant trials to test new formulations and processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, production, and quality assurance, to bring new products to market.

Product Improvement:

  • Evaluate and improve existing products to enhance quality, flavor, texture, and nutritional value.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving measures without compromising product quality.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to innovate and improve product offerings.

Quality and Safety:

  • Ensure all products comply with food safety regulations and standards (FDA, USDA, etc.).
  • Conduct sensory evaluations, shelf-life studies, and other tests to ensure product stability and safety.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including formulations, processing parameters, and test results.

Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct research on ingredients, processing techniques, and packaging solutions.
  • Analyze data and generate reports to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current with scientific literature and advancements in food science.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in food product development or a related role within the food and beverage industry.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of food chemistry, microbiology, and processing techniques.
  • Proficient in laboratory and pilot plant equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with product development software and statistical analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and food labeling laws.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
