Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Formulations Scientist at Pani. The Formulations Scientist will be responsible for developing and commercializing formulas for flavor and dietary supplement pods.


  • Leverage Consumer Insights and CPG experience to design and commercialize products that delight target consumers.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with Appliance Engineers to design formulas that function in the Pani system.
  • Collaborate with internal and external resources (including vendors and consultants) in the development, successful launch, and maintenance of pod formulas.
  • Develop and document methods to ensure product quality, consistency, safety, and shelf life.
  • Support development of timelines and manage multiple development projects simultaneously.
  • Conduct scientific literature, ingredient, and industry research to identify novel ingredients, support for claims, and new technologies.
  • Develop and document ingredient and formula specifications


Qualifications

  • BS or higher in Food Science, Chemistry, or related discipline
  • 6 years or more of CPG beverage and/or dietary supplement development and commercialization experience
  • Experience in ingredient selection, formulation, scaling, and commercializing consumable products
  • Knowledge of nutrition and health and wellness application in beverage and/or dietary supplement development
  • Knowledge of Sensory Techniques
  • Knowledge of food quality, safety, and microbiology
  • Ability to apply consumer insights in the development of products
  • Experience with co-manufacturing preferred
  • Project management skills
  • Knowledge and comfort in utilization of basic laboratory equipment, including (but not limited to) analytical balance, pH meter, water activity meter, titrator, microscope
  • Comfort in start-up environment, including innovation mind-set, comfort with ambiguity, adaptability, good communication skills, strong problem-solving skills, wearing many hats, and excellent collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Travel to work with vendors and co-manufacturers
