Fixed Asset Accountant

Titan America LLC is a leading environmentally and socially progressive heavy building materials company located in the eastern United States. Titan America has an opening for a skilled and motivated professional Fixed Asset Accountant to join our Accounting team located at its Corporate Center in Norfolk, Virginia. The primary role of this salary exempt position is responsibility for our Titan America fixed assets, including administration of the capital investment program, along with supporting responsibility for the monthly close of the MABU product lines and/or corporate consolidation. This salaried exempt position reports to the Director of Management Accounting.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Active participation in the ongoing Titan America capital investment campaign. In particular,
  • Evaluate business investment projects for compliance with company capital policies and IFRS guidelines,
  • Monitor capital spending and projects completion for proper accounting and classification of fixed assets,
  • Timely closing and classification of completed capital projects;
  • Maintain various database and reporting formats to include working with Financial Planning and Analysis group on forecast and reporting,
  • Provide support to non-accounting personnel in the business centers on a variety of capital accounting issues,
  • Perform month end close of fixed assets ledger for multiple legal entities, including depreciation calculation using ERP system, journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Produce and review monthly reporting, including fixed asset roll forwards, capital expenditure reports, disposals, and other financial reports to ensure accurate and prompt results for the businesses.
  • Ensure consistency in policy and procedures within capital and fixed assets. Coordinate with other business units to develop solutions for identified inconsistencies and the development of best practices.
  • Conduct fixed asset audits of company locations to ensure integrity of our fixed asset ledger.
  • Participate in interim and year-end external audit process, including directly working with the external audit team.
  • Perform technical IFRS research.
  • Contribute to the development of companywide financial policies and procedures and internal controls and implementation for all product lines.




Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent capability, required.
  • Two to five years general or fixed asset accounting experience required, with hands on capital and fixed asset experience a plus
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) basis, preferred.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), preferred.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, with Advanced Excel skills, required. Data Analysis experience, knowledge of SAP and Hyperion, a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work under time constraints with a large and diverse group of internal customers.
  • Can-do attitude and demonstrated experience in working within a team environment.
