DETROIT CITY FC FIRST TEAM ASSISTANT COACH

Detroit City FC is Detroit’s professional soccer club. Founded in 2012, the community club plays in the USL Championship. Detroit City FC is looking for a first team assistant coach to assist in all team matters including but not limited to; training, scouting, player development, analytics, and game-day preparations.

Position Overview

The first team assistant coach will share in the team mission, ambition, and culture; while actively contributing positively to the Club’s Organizational Goals

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • In coordination with the Head Coach, prepare and conduct all training sessions.
  • Knowledge of performance analysis software (Sportscode) preferred.
  • Coach and assist the Head Coach with team in all matches (pre-season, regular season, playoffs, exhibition, etc.).
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver best practice support to players, for optimal player performance.
  • Lead and be involved in all aspects of team activities (on and off field), including cultivating community relationships and engagements.
  • Purposefully create and foster professional relationships with each player to maximize their contributions to the team as players and development as people.
  • Conduct, assist, and supervise individual practices and training sessions for the team and individual players.
  • Oversee scouting of opponents (watching games, creating applicable reports and presenting data and details).
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of all opponents’ individual and team strategies and proactively share with coaching staff for informed input into game plan.
  • Apply scouting methodology to college, domestic professional and international professional players to inform acquisition opportunities, roster management and development opportunities.
  • Clip, analyze and present findings.
  • Represent the organization at various networking events and/or offsite community events.
  • Other responsibilities as arise.

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum of UEFA ‘A’ or US ‘A’ Coaching License required or UEFA ‘B’ or US ‘B’ License with proof of acceptance into an ‘A’ level course in 2024 or 2025.
  • Experience in similar role at a professional Club, preferred.
  • Strong work ethic, team-oriented attitude, and enthusiasm about contributing to the success of the Club.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, if necessary.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and execute in a timely manner.
  • Must be flexible with the ability to adapt in a fast pace work environment with challenging demands and frequent changes.
  • Bilingual (Spanish or Arabic) speaker a plus, but not required.
  • Must be legally authorized or able to obtain authorization to work in the US.

Salary Range

At DCFC we carefully consider a wide range of factors to determine a fair and equitable compensation package. The final offer amount will consider a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to skill sets, relevant experience, and training/education/licensure. The overall salary range for this role is $60,000 - $80,000 per year plus performance bonus incentives.
