About The Role
This position plays a crucial role within our international exchange portfolio, providing essential support to project managers and international participants visiting the United States. You will specifically manage non-resident alien tax matters, ensuring compliance and support for approximately 1,700 participants across 18 groups scheduled to visit in 2024.
Key Responsibilities
Manage our custom-built online tax determination system (Calculus) inbox, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
Coordinate with our third-party tax advisor and internal teams to maintain compliance with IRS regulations.
Update and maintain documentation and training resources related to non-resident alien taxes on IREX's Sharepoint platform.
Provide training sessions on tax processes to internal stakeholders and participants.
Support new business proposals by assisting with tax liability calculations.
Submit monthly tax liability prepayments and facilitate annual withholding tax returns (Form 1042 and 1042s) in collaboration with our tax advisor.
Act as a primary point of contact for inquiries related to tax procedures from colleagues and participants.
Your Background
Bachelor's Degree in international development, accounting, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in international exchange or non-resident alien tax matters.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Experience working cross-culturally and providing remote support is advantageous.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and familiarity with digital collaboration tools.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with demonstrated cross-cultural sensitivity.
Fluency in English is required; proficiency in additional languages such as Spanish, French, Arabic, or Russian is a plus.
Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

This position is eligible for telework, with regular presence required at our Washington, DC office.
