Job Description - Director of Finance
Summary:
Manage accounting department with purpose of maximizing return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems. Provide information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities; what will assist management, its shareholders and other users in making educated economic decisions about company’s future. Manage financial planning and analysis. Plan and prepare budgets, analyze results, make recommendations to Executives. Manage audit by third party.
They will have 4 direct reports (Controller, FP&A Manager, Credit and Controls Analyst, and Inventory Process Improvement Manager) with a full team of 18 across 2 separate locations. The position supports 2 manufacturing plans (NC and PA) as well as a retail production location in NH.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures
Lead the corporate planning and analysis team in the annual planning and monthly forecasting processes; develops budget as required.
Improve forecast accuracy and improve efficiency by re-engineering and applying best practices in budgeting, reporting and consolidation processes to reduce time to reporting
Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits; Analyze monthly, quarterly, annual financial results and make necessary recommendations.
Manages third party audit; reviews and makes recommendations on any findings.
Support senior management in all the operating groups by providing financial perspectives and analysis to drive business decisions
Responsible for all internal/external financial reporting. Consolidate financial statements for the companies as required; supply requested reports/information to HQ in Japan.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
Work closely with business units across the company
Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
Other duties as necessary
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, computer science or related field, or equivalent business experience and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in either discipline, preferably solid experience in both.
Active CPA preferred
Strong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial planning and analysis, income tax and banking working knowledge.
Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
Solid writing skills
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and motivate professional staff
Analytical and problem solving skills
Strong managerial abilities.
