Motlow State is located in the beautiful rolling hills of middle Tennessee and has four campuses that serve students from eleven counties. General Function

Assists with administration, processing, verifying eligibility, awarding, monitoring, and adjusting awards each semester; reconciling the account; and maintaining the student information system/Banner as related to the federal/state/local/institutional or assigned financial aid programs and funds. Counsels new or returning undergraduate students in relation to financial aid.

Minimum Qualifications

Associates degree earned from a regionally accredited institution OR 60+ semester hours earned toward a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution; One (1) year of experience with an institutional financial aid office and/or State Student Assistance Agency office.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology or Education or related field earned from a regionally accredited institution; One (1) year of experience with the Banner financial aid system.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned financial aid program(s) to include assisting with administration, processing, verifying eligibility, awarding, monitoring, and adjusting awards each semester; reconciling accounts; maintaining institutional compliance as required by program proponent organization and applicable statutes; and maintaining the student information system/Banner as related to assigned program(s).
  • Develop, compile, prepare, process and submit all required lists, reports, and recurring reports by deadlines established by the proponent organization of assigned financial aid program(s).
  • Develop, compile, prepare, process and submit all required lists, reports, and recurring reports necessary for program analysis and management by deadlines established by the financial aid management team or MSCC executives.
  • Certifies and tests the accuracy of the annual program setup for assigned financial Aid Program(s) in Banner, including the following modules: financial aid, packaging, communications management, and satisfactory academic progress.
  • Provide financial aid counseling to new/continuing undergraduate students to include federal/state/local/institutional or assigned financial aid programs and funds.
  • Assist students and parents who require explanations of financial aid programs, processes, eligibility, refunds, impact of withdrawal or over awards.
  • Provides leadership for assigned financial aid program(s) via committee participation, communications with external stakeholders, and contributions to the strategic planning and evaluation processes.
  • Serve as institutional appeals liaison for assigned financial aid program(s).
  • Present financial aid programs at financial aid workshops, college fairs and other program events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Knowledge of confidentiality statutes and policies as they apply to FERPA and financial aid programs
  • Maintain detailed current knowledge of federal/state/local/institutional financial aid programs, policies, procedures and funds
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-passed environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with students, parents, high school counselors, fellow employees, college administrators, and other stakeholders
  • Strong computer skills, including but not limited to ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system(s) (Banner), word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, database, and internet
  • Ability to conduct research, develop professional documents and make presentations to diverse stakeholders including groups of staff, parents and students.
