We are hiring an Accounting & Finance Specialist who will work closely with our team to manage transactions, payroll, and oversee the accounting, compliance, and daily business operations for the company. Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will execute on day-to-day accounting activities to ensure an accurate and timely accounting process. As our first finance/accounting hire, you will play a crucial role in shaping the department and performing a wide range of tasks, from detailed manual work to high-level strategic initiatives. This position is ideal for a hands-on finance professional who excels in a multifaceted and dynamic environment.


What you’ll do:

  • Comprehensive Financial Management: Ensure precise and timely financial reporting by preparing comprehensive monthly financial statements and management reports. Drive accuracy in financial insights that support strategic decision-making.
  • System Development and Process Optimization: Develop and continuously refine accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Adapt and scale processes to align with the organization's growth and evolving needs.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Reporting: Manage all aspects of compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings. Serve as the primary liaison with external accountants during the income tax filing process.
  • Operational and Administrative Support: Provide robust support for the administrative needs of our operations, ensuring seamless integration of accounting functions with other business areas.
  • Daily Accounting Operations: Handle all general ledger (GL) accounting activities, including detailed and accurate postings and reconciliations. Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded promptly and correctly.
  • Inventory Management: Conduct thorough inventory reconciliations and maintain accurate records of stock levels to support operational and financial strategies.
  • Cash Flow and Treasury Management: Oversee all treasury functions, including proactive cash flow management, to maintain optimal liquidity and financial health of the business.
  • Strategic Financial Analysis: Engage in financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis to provide deep insights into business operations, facilitating informed strategic planning and resource allocation.


Skill Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with time spent at an accounting firm and a smaller company/startup.
  • Ability to simplify complex concepts and foster an environment of rapid execution, learning, and fun.
  • Entrepreneurial and relentlessly resourceful mindset.
  • Ability to rapidly context switch as you work across various industries and growth challenges.
  • Team player who can collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders of varying levels of knowledge.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA license is preferred.
  • Public accounting experience is a plus.
