The Opportunity

The Finance Manager, Americas, will assist the VP of Finance, FP&A & Consumer Products, and the VP of Finance, Content Sales in forecasting and reporting on the region's financial performance. Key responsibilities include supporting the overall finance team and facilitating Finance Business Partnering to maximize revenue and profit, helping business owners achieve their objectives.

Business Partnering And Relationships

Key responsibilities encompass, yet are not confined to:

  • Collaborate closely with the Americas Finance team, stakeholders, and management to optimize financial performance.
  • Provide comprehensive financial management, control, and advisory support for Content Sales and Consumer Products.
  • Address business challenges and drive a variety of projects to completion.
  • Offer objective advice, insights, and challenges to management to enhance business performance and act as a catalyst for change.
  • Advocate and implement finance best practices across the region and within Group Finance.
  • Contribute to the development of BBC Studios' overall financial strategy to ensure accurate long-term financial modeling and forecasting.
  • Ensure effective governance, risk management, and compliance processes are in place, adhering to local laws in regions such as Canada, Mexico, and the UK.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, both internal and external, including partners at Warner Brothers, Media Morph, key licensees, and others.
  • Partner with the VP Finance, Consumer Products, and Finance Analyst to manage and track forecasting and reporting.
  • Collaborate with the VP Finance, Content Sales, and sales teams in Latin America, Canada, and the US to monitor deals and develop processes for AVOD/FAST business.
  • Project and load Budget and Forecast P&L, balance sheet, and cash impact in alignment with contractual arrangements for Content deals.
  • Promote a collaborative working environment by sharing information across the Americas region, Global Media and Streaming, and Group Finance.
  • Provide initial accounting advice under IFRS and liaise with the Group Finance team for further guidance as needed.
  • Work with Group and Central Finance functions to ensure compliance with accounting treatments, internal policies, and consistent reporting.
  • Assist the Actuals and Reporting team with month-end activities by offering insights into the forecast and providing meaningful commentary.
  • Develop business models to monitor and evaluate business performance.
  • Attend divisional team meetings, business updates, and leadership meetings.
  • Support the preparation of Quarterly Performance Reviews (QPR) and other presentations.
  • Present financial results, business cases, and other matters to various audiences as required.
  • Ensure financial activities align with the business strategy to deliver value for money.
  • Assist with various projects as they arise.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Qualifications And Experience

  • Strong accounting and finance background with a recognized accounting qualification (CPA or international equivalent strongly preferred).
  • Over 5 years of professional experience in accounting and finance.
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS.
  • Experience in the media sector; experience in a commercial environment as part of an overseas subsidiary or matrixed organization is a plus.

Technical Proficiency

  • Knowledge of SAP (S4 Hana), BPC, and Analysis for Office.
  • Proficient in developing and managing relatively complex Excel models and analyses; effective in Word and PowerPoint.

Personal Attributes

  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and juggle tasks while supporting numerous stakeholders.

Compensation And Benefits

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $95K-$105K dependent on experience & market conditions. This range is not inclusive of flexible, hybrid working schedule & benefits including but not limited to: 100% BBCS covered medical & dental insurance, vision, & 401k match. The actual base salary offered depends on the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and geographic location of the position.

Hybrid: This position is designated as hybrid, requiring a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.
